“Alexander Ekman’s Cacti brings humor, live music, and playful surprise to the stage, gently poking fun at how we watch and interpret art while celebrating rhythm, precision, and joy. Akram Khan’s Vertical Road (Reimagined) 2023 offers a powerful contrast—an immersive, elemental work that draws audiences into a shared journey of movement, ritual, and transformation.
The program opens with a special orchestral performance of selections from Stravinsky’s The Firebird Suite, performed live by the Boston Ballet Orchestra. Whether you’re new to contemporary dance or simply curious, this program showcases a spectacular range—from witty and irreverent to visceral and deeply moving—in an engaging performance best experienced together, in the theater.”
