An Evening with Joshua Kendall - Trudeau & Doonesbury
Advanced ticket sales have been closed for this event, but tickets can be purchased at the door.
Join the Yale Club of Boston and Harvard Club of Boston for a lively and insightful conversation celebrating Trudeau + Doonesbury: The Cartoonist Who Turned The News Into Art, a compelling new look at the life and legacy of Garry Trudeau and his groundbreaking comic strip, Doonesbury. Drawing on newly uncovered archival materials and in-depth interviews with Trudeau, fellow cartoonists, journalists, and even political figures who found themselves lampooned in the strip, this book offers a rich and entertaining journey through more than half a century of American culture and politics.
For over 50 years, Doonesbury has shaped and reflected the national conversation with humor, intelligence, and sharp social commentary—earning distinction as the first comic strip to win a Pulitzer Prize. As its characters evolved alongside their creator, the strip became a defining chronicle of the Baby Boomer generation and beyond.
Author Joshua C. Kendall will lead the discussion, bringing his acclaimed biographical insight and engaging storytelling style to the conversation. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the intersection of art, satire, and history through one of America’s most influential cultural works.

Our 2026 Annual Meeting
Ticket sales for this event have closed.
Please join us on Tuesday, May 5 for an evening of conversation, community, and celebration at the Yale Club of Boston’s Annual Meeting. In addition to club business and elections, we’re thrilled to welcome Professor Akhil Reed Amar, ‘80/Law ‘84, who will deliver our keynote address.
Professor Amar is Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science at Yale University, where he teaches constitutional law at Yale College and Yale Law School. After graduating from Yale College summa cum laude in 1980 and from Yale Law School in 1984 and clerking for Judge (later Justice) Stephen Breyer, Prof. Amar joined the Yale Law faculty at the age of 26. He is Yale’s only living professor to have won the University’s unofficial triple crown — the Sterling Chair for scholarship, the DeVane Medal for teaching, and the Lamar Award for alumni service. He is America’s second most-cited legal scholar still under age 70 and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has written widely for popular publications, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Time, and The Atlantic, and was an informal consultant to the popular TV show The West Wing.
Professor Amar’s visit is supported by The Redpath Fund, an endowment established in honor of Robert U. Redpath Jr. '28. Mr. Redpath was a great advocate for lifelong learning, believing that Commencement should be viewed as the beginning of one's ongoing education. With that spirit in mind, the Redpath Fund extends Yale's ability to bring educational programs to Yale graduates across the country.
The evening will begin with hors d’oeuvres, beverages and desserts, then turn to club business, including the election of directors and officers. Dues-paying members in good standing may vote on our slate for 2026-2027.

Everyone who registers will receive two drink tickets, valid for beer, wine, hard seltzer, or soft drinks. There will be a food truck on site, and attendees are welcome to bring their own food and snacks to the event.
Please note: use the Dartmouth Street footbridge (map) for access and as your drop-off location if you are using rideshare. The Copley station on the MBTA’s Green Line is a 7-minute walk away. There is no parking at the venue. On-street parking in Back Bay can be lim ited; the Boston Common Garage on Charles Street, between the Public Garden and the Boston Common (a 15-minute walk), is one option. The Esplanade strives to be accessible, but there are some challenges, particularly around the venue due to steep footbridge ramps.
We're looking forward to seeing you!
YaleBoston Climate Tech & Sustainable Business: Fall Drinks
Registration for this event has closed.
Following our inaugural gathering in July, we’re continuing our initiative to bring together Yale alumni working (or interested) in climate tech and sustainable business. Please join us on Tuesday, October 14 for drinks and an evening of community building and networking. Stuart DeCew, the Executive Director of the Center for Business and Environment at Yale, also plans to attend.
We’ll get together at Lamplighter CX, Lamplighter Brewing Co.’s venue in Cambridge. Look for Jesse Lazarus SOM ’19, the event organizer, wearing a grey “Yale Ventures” shirt at the event.
The brewery is known for its fantastic selection of beers, and also carries some non-alcoholic drinks and coffee. Attendees can purchase drinks, and can bring in food (Blaze Pizza, Tatte and a café are nearby).
The venue is a five-minute walk from the Lechmere T Stop on the MBTA’s Green Line or from the Two Canal Park parking garage on First Street ($5 for 1-2 hours of parking).
There is no charge to attend, but please register by October 12 so that we can provide a headcount to our hosts. Attendees must be over 21.
2025 President's Cup Golf Tournament
This year’s rendition of the President’s Cup Golf Tournament, a tradition of the Yale Club of Boston, has been cancelled. It has historically been played at the Yale Golf Course. We’ve tried to keep the event going while the course was closed for major renovations, but there wasn’t enough interest this year to stage the event. We expect to return there in 2026.
