With one of YaleBoston’s undergraduate Community Service Fellows interning at the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site this summer, we have a unique opportunity on Saturday, July 26 to enjoy a private tour of Olmsted’s design studios and a reception. Whether you’re a history buff, outdoor explorer, park lover, landscape architect, or curious Yalie, come join us!
The tour will start at 10:30 am, so please arrive around 10 am to check in and meander through the exhibits. An informal reception in the barn will follow the tour. We’ll learn about Frederick Law Olmsted — the mastermind of Central Park, the 1893 Chicago’s World’s Fair grounds, and the Emerald Necklace — and hear about Olmsted’s and his firm’s connections and work at Yale, thanks to research by our Community Service Fellow!
Tickets are free for dues-paying members of the Yale Club of Boston, and $10 for non-members.
Ample parking is available on Dudley Street. The Site is also accessible via mass transportation (MBTA Bus #60 or MBTA Green “D” Line at Brookline Hills station). Children are welcome, but please be sure to register them.
The exhibits and the reception are wheelchair accessible, but the tour requires visitors to walk up and down a flight of stairs. Please contact us at events@yaleboston.org if you have any questions.
